Potentially 38mm decking like the mainline USN BBs, potentially supercruiser fire duration instead of battleship, perhaps a superheal somewhere between USN mainline and RN BBs (0.9% a second for 28s, 1.1% for 24s?) I think a neat direction to take them, if they want to keep them slow and cumbersome, would be to make them super tanky. I can't see them going live with 40s reload, something like 33-35s is a much more reasonable number when you consider other 12 gun ships (Alsace, Pommern) or other ships with gimped reloads (Sovetsky Soyuz)Įven then I think they need more than a simple reload buff to get them into a compelling state. It's really hard to argue these ships have anything going for them. This is before even getting into the fact Iowa is 10kts faster (allowing better positioning, you might not even be able to shoot that cruiser in Minnesota) or the fact Iowa has arguably better armor (38mm deck) There are also a TON of situations where reloading even 2s faster is the difference between potentially devstriking a cruiser before they slide into island cover and not even being able to get a salvo off on them, so at 40s you are going to miss a LOT of opportunities to shoot people. Sure, the Minnesota has a better broadside weight but from my experience with Iowa even 1.9 sigma with APM2 is unreliable at best and the extra RPM of Iowa allows you to make up for bad dispersion by simply rolling the dice more often. Same DPM/Range/Shells as Iowa is a very worrying thing to say when you consider Iowa has significantly better sigma (1.9 vs 1.7) as well as a 10s better reload.
